Post- Production report (post filming)

Filiming our final piece was for the most part, a great success. This was mostly because of our in depth planning, detailed storyboarding and a practice at filming some of the more complex shots.

Our final piece was filmed on Wednesday the 19th of November. We also had a practice filming day on Saturday the 15th, in order to test the camera and to try out some of the more complex shots. This day proved very important as we identified problems within our storyboard which we were able to change in time for the final filming day. For example, the shots in which Adam surveys the contryside with a telescope to then be jumped by Matt proved very difficult to film, without significantly diviating from the plot of the piece.

Our in depth storyboarding also proved vital to the success of the filming day as it enabled us to reffer to it for guidance. The descriptive nature of the storyboard meant that we were able to easily understand it when on site. The vivid drawings made it easier to understand the mood and feeling that it was essential to create in the sequence.

We practiced many of the complex and dynamic shots on our dedicate practice day. One of the hardest shots we encountered was the tracking shot which follows the characters as they ride thier bikes through the dence woodland. Using a tripod place ontop of a mountain board I managed to follow George and Matt as they slowly moved forward. The main problem with the shot was the difficulty of finding a smooth surface for the board to move on. However, after a number of attempts we eventually got a smooth shot.

In our pre- production planning, we also made notes on the costumes and apperance of the characters within the sequence. This planning made it far easier to organise for the filming on the final day as we all had a description of how we must appear (as characters). For example, Matt, the joker of the group was clothed in slightly unsuitable clothing for a biking adventure.
